Submits official DOD timeline. Mayor requests assistance at 1:34pm. 3:04p Miller gave DC National Guard full authorization. 3:19pm McCarthy spoke to Pelosi/Schumer. Miller spoke to Pence at 4:08pm. Plan approved at 4:32pm. Why did it take 3 hrs after initial request and 92 minutes after authorization?
Wish it was a true hearing - need those in the chain of command to answer questions. Who did the poll to know that those who breached the steps at 2:07p were Trump supporters? Lie about Sidnick. Groups organized on Facebook. It was preplanned. If there was a potential of violence, why wasn't it prevented?
"Corrects" the Republican narrative. DOJ cleared Capitol police of wrong-doing in Ashlee Babbitt. Repeats narrative that Trump incited violence. Was DOJ the lead agency? Rosen states all agencies were informed. Tries to get Miller to say that Trump is to blame. Cuts him off.
Brings up riots in Portland, points out Dems said nothing or supported. Plays video of Portland. Calls it an insurrection. All violence should be condemned. Calls Lynch out on the distance from Ellipse to Capitol. Clarifies points with Miller and Rosen. Brings up treatment of 1/6 suspects.
Asks Rosen if he was aware of calls for violence on social media. Claims Trump calls for rally since election (not true). Claims people coming because they thought election was stolen. Asks if Rosen directed Wray to investigate and cordination with other organizations. Says they didn't do anything.
Was not an insurrection. Reads definition. House floor was never breached. To call it an insurrection is a bold-faced lie. No guns confiscated. Asks Rosen if he thinks it was an insurrection. Calls Russian Hoax an insurrection. Asks Contee to describe rules of engagement.
12/31 was the first request for assistance on 1/6. 340 National Guard deployed without riot gear per Mayor's request. Asked about restrictions on quick reaction force. Capitol police also requested on 1/4. Did Miller go to the rally? When did he know? Accuses Miller of delaying deployment.
As of 4/12, 372 have been charged? How many were members of Congress? Speaker said the enemy is within the House. No intelligence to support this claim. Any Republicans raising money to post bail for those charged? Distinct difference between those who came to the rallies vs those who came to do destruction.
Where do we go from here? More facts coming in. Pelosi proposed a commission. Some Republicans are against it saying scope should include the riots over the summer. Sarbane says it is unrelated. Letter from National Security experts requesting commision submitted. Sarbane touts good that came out of 9/11 commission.
This hearing is not an effort to get to the truth. Asks all witness' who are responsible for securing Capitol. All say Capitol Police. Why no Capitol police at hearing. Reports of armed individuals holding rallies - Contee did not receive. Letter from Mayor on 1/5, MPD is prepared. DC did not requested any additional aid. Why isn't Mayor here?
